Bryan Cranston

Batman VS Superman Casts Lex Luthor and Alfred

Posted on Updated on

Batman VS Superman has just been delayed for 10 months and will now be coming out in 2016 rather than 2015. When Ben Affleck was cast as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman people took to the internet to complain. I don’t know how people will react to this current casting news as it is very fresh.

Jesse Eisenberg star of The Social Network has been cast as the main villain Lex Luthor. Now I was very surprised by this as everyone was saying that Bryan Cranston, Mark Strong and Joaquin Phoenix would be cast in the role. I understand that they wanted someone younger for the role as they aimed to have him the same age as Superman but I don’t think that Eisenberg has the presence to stand up against Cavill. I thought an older actor would have been more suited to the role.

Bruce Wayne’s Butler has also been cast. Alfred will be played by Jeremy Irons which I think is a great choice. I think he is a great actor and in some ways the role seems to small for him but I reckon he can pull off the same sympathy and conscious of Alfred that we saw from Michael Caine.

We are likely to keep on getting more rumors as well as casting updates over the next few months so watch this space.

What do you think of the casting? Who would you rather see play these roles? Please comment and thanks for reading.

Batman VS Superman Film Delayed

Posted on

One of the the most anticipated films of 2015 was Batman VS Superman. Was. Production on the Man of Steel sequel has been delayed for 10 months. Filming was due to start in February 2014 and the film was due for release in the summer of 2015. Rumors are that Ben Affleck has suffered a leg injury and this has caused filming to be delayed. The delay has also been put down to the trouble with casting and that people may end up getting recast due to scheduling conflicts. Or maybe this is to work around the scheduling conflicts.

The current rumors floating around on casting are that the villains of the film will be Lex Luthor and Doomsday. Bryan Cranston, Mark Strong and recently Joaquin Phoenix have been rumored for the role. For Doomsday Jason Mamoa was rumored but has denied involvement and recently it was announced that Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is going to appear in the film and would be playing Doomsday.

Another rumor is that Synder needs more time to complete his vision and the film will be released in 2016.There were rumors a few days ago that stated that this film and the Justice League movie would shoot back to back. This delay may allow that to happen. Maybe this is just rumors for now we just have to wait and see.

All of these could be true or they could be exaggerated. I think that Batman VS Superman will now not be released until 2016 and it will likely shoot back to back with the planned Justice League movie which is scheduled for 2017 but that has not been set in stone.

How do you feel about the delay? Who would you recast? Please comment and thanks for reading.

Golden Globe Winners 2014

Posted on

So another year to wait for the golden globes 2014 but the awards season from this year is far from over. The Oscars is the big award show the one that people deem that matters but the nominations are not even out yet. The oscar nominations will be announced in a few days and the award show will take place on March 2nd which is very late this year. Anyway last nights awards have caused a stir in my opinion but I am glad that it has. People seem to be upset about the winners and the nominees so far and this makes me look forward to he oscars as I don’t think the people who won at the golden globes will necessarily win at the oscars. I was surprised to see that Chiwetel Ejiofor and Michael Fassbender lose out to Matthew McConaughy and Jared Leto. I do think awards shows are strange as 12 Years a Slave won best Drama but the actors did not win. If it was voted best film surely it should triumph  in all categories. It missed out on everything except best drama. I still predict that 12 Years a Slave will do well at the Baftas and I reckon at the oscars it may clean up as well.

I was also surprised to see Jennifer Lawrence win as I felt her role in American Hustle was very underwhelming. I do like her a lot but if she goes on to win an oscar this year she will just become the next Meryl Streep who gets nominated for the sake of a nomination rather than actually being one of the best roles. DiCaprio won for best actor in a comedy and took a jab at the Hollywood foregin press by joking about his fellow comedians who were nominated. Unfortunately I think DiCaprio may miss out on an oscar nomination and I feel that even if he picks up a nomination he will not win. So far in the film awards it is interesting and this may be one of the best awards seasons in years as it doesn’t seem to be predictable.

Bryan Cranston rightly won for his role of Walter White in Breaking Bad and the show itself won for best drama. This was a really fitting send out for the show. So many people were impressed by Breaking Bad and having Cranston win was predictable but it was what everyone including myself wanted. It was also good to see Robin Wright win for House of Cards which is due to return on Netflix in February.

Here is the full list of winners.

Godzilla Teaser Trailer Review

Video Posted on

Hollywood keeps on dishing out blockbuster movies with massive budgets and amazing special effects. Also There are lots of reboots in effect at the moment either due to be released or being developed. Some people say this is selling out and I do think it is unoriginal however due to the advancement in visual effects it is great to see stories retold with better visual and special effects.

Godzilla has been shown on screen a few times from films in the 1950s to the big budget film that came out in 1998 starring Matthew Broderick. Despite receiving mixed reviews Godzilla from 1998 left the story on a cliffhanger and people did want more. 16 years on we are going to get a new film. This is not a sequel but may have references to the previous film.

The trailer for me was really impressive. Despite this is called a teaser trailer I felt we got plenty of information. and we did actually get a good look at the monster. I thought the silence towards the end of the trailer followed by the iconic roar of the monster was really cool and I already know lots of people are really excited for this film just on the roar of the monster.

The teaser is made up of many different clips that don’t give the plot away but it is clear that Godzilla has come from somewhere and is wrecking havoc. Pacific Rim came out recently and dealt with giants monsters attacking cities but I know that was not well received at all. I have not seen Pacific Rim yet but I am sure Godzilla will be very different and be more appealing to the audience as this is a familiar story using a very iconic monster.

The film stars Arron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, Ken Wantanabe and David Strathairn. The film is due to be released 16th May 2014 so we only have a few months to wait before seeing this iconic monster hit the big screen again. We will also get a few more trailers by then so those unsatisfied with the teaser will be able to see more before its footage before it is released.

What did you think of the trailer? Please comment and thanks for reading.

Breaking Bad Felina Review

Breaking Bad has now finished, no more episodes unfortunately. Breaking Bad came onto our screens back in 2008 and after 5 fantastic seasons it has come to a conclusive end. I am upset that the show has ended but I am glad that it ended well. It is good that the story came to a conclusive end rather than dragging out and ending by cancellation. The show has constantly delivered and surprised its audience and I’m sure the writers could have written more but I personally think that the show ended at the appropriate time. The show is one of my favorite shows due to its great stories and characters and I think that the show has left a fantastic Legacy and people who are not born yet will watch this show and it will be known as one of the greats.

This weeks episode starts off with Walt in New Hampshire breaking into a car and fearing he may be caught. Walt then arrives back in Albuquerque and confronts Elliot and Gretchen Schwartz.  Initially you think he is going to kill them but he gives them all of his money and asks them to set up a grant for his family. His family must not know the money is actually from Walt. in Granite State Walt sees the Schwartz’s on Charlie Rose talking about a trust they have set up to support people addicted to Meth. Walt believes that Skylar and Junior will accept the money from the Schwartz’s if they think it is from them. Walt says if they fail to do so he has hired two hit men to kill them if they fail to. Laser sights point at the Schwartz’s and they take Walt seriously. We later find out that Walt was just tricking them as the guys pointing the lasers were simply Badger and Skinny Pete. It is then established that after this Walt goes to the Denny’s to pick up the machine gun and back to his house to pick up the ricin.

Walt then confronts Todd and Lydia and says he needs money and wants to sell some new formula to create meth without methlamine. They reluctantly agree to Walt’s proposition but plan to have him killed as they know he is dangerous, wanted from the police and dying. Lydia then looks for more Stevia to put in her tea. The waiter hands her one from the table Walt was sitting at before he approached them. Walt then goes to see Skylar and admits everything he did was not for the family but for him, he said it made him feel alive. Walt  is then seen testing out a mechanism for the machine gun. He also gives Skylar the location of where Hank and Steve are buried and informs her that he is going after his old associates. Walt arrives at the Aryan compound at night and drives up to the club house. Jack and Todd tell him they are not interested in his proposition and are going to kill him. Walt shouts at them saying they did not kill Jesse and are now partnered with him. Jack is furious and brings out Jesse to prove they are not partners but Jesse is his slave. Walt attacks Jesse tackling him to the ground. As this happens Walt reaches activates his keys and the machine gun from his boot begins to fire and kill the Aryans.

Walt is then wounded by the gun and so is Jack. Todd avoids getting hit but in the aftermath Jesse kills Todd. Walt approaches Jack who says if he kills him he will never find the money. Lydia then calls Todd but Walt answers the phone. Lydia has flu like symptoms and Walt informs her he poisoned her with ricin and she only has a few days left to live. Walt simply shoots him in the head. Walt throws the gun to Jesse asking him to kill him. Jesse asks him to say that’s what he wants. Walt says so .Jesse sees that Walt is wounded and says he should do it himself if he wants it. Jesse then drives off crying into the night. Walt is left wounded at the compound and walks into the meth lab that he designed. The police can be seen arriving at the scene. Walt looks at his reflection which resembles himself when he lost his hair. He then falls the ground leaving a blood hand print on the container. Walt is seen lying dead on the ground and the police arrive in the room and surround his dead body.

For me the series has come full circle. Walt has achieved what he wanted to by leaving some of the money he made to his family. He was also able to save Jesse from the hell he had been living for a few months. He also avenged Hank’s death and secured Skylar’s name. Despite in his final moments Walt was Heisenberg it makes me think that Heisenberg is nothing but a name and the good man who is Walter White was always there. Walt had a difficult journey and although he was not able to leave his family all the money he had ever made he left them enough which was his original intent when he started cooking meth.

Jesse and Walt reflect each other in this episode in my opinion. They both look worn out and rough. They are both bearded and have longer hair. At the end they are equals. Jesse was now an experienced cook even though it was against his will. Also they both proved that they were good people. Walt saved Jesse and Jesse spared Walt’s life. I am very glad that Jesse did not kill Walt as I do think their inner goodness and their father and son relationship was stronger than vengeance.

Overall the show is fantastic and it came to an appropriate end. The show made me sad as well. I was so sad to see Walt admit he was selfish as well as seeing him accept his death. The show was emotional and it worked so well. I am glad too have watched this show and although the suprise will be gone I will re watch this show again and again for its brilliant content.A Saul Spin off is also being talked about at the moment but will be a prequel to Breaking Bad. I did like Saul as a character but I think his standalone story will not be as interesting as the Breaking Bad storyline. Breaking Bad is the best show on television in my opinion and I don’t know if anything will be able to replace it ever.

What did you think of Breaking Bad? Was the finale a good end to the story? Please comment and thanks for reading.
